Correlation of serum Nesfatin 1 level with metabolic and clinical parameters in Indian women with and without polycystic ovarian syndrome

Background: Objective of the study was to compare serum Nesfatin 1 levels in Indian women with and without polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) evaluate association metabolic clinical parameters. Methods: 40 PCOS age body mass index (BMI) matched non controls were enrolled. Comparison hormonal (serum 1, anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH), follicle stimulating (FSH), luteinizing (LH), prolactin, testosterone, estadiol) (blood pressure, fasting post prandial blood glucose insulin, HOMA-IR) (acne, acanthosis nigricans hirsutism) parameters done between two groups. Student’s t test, Mann Whitney Pearson’s correlation test used. P value <0.05 considered statistically significant. Results: There a significant difference subjects (8.6 ng/ml versus 0.75 ng/ml, p<0.01). Positive present nesfatin level plasma (r=0.009; p<0.009). A positive also AMH (r=0.512; No found other endocrine, cardiovascular Serum LH levels, LH/FSH ratio, insulin significantly higher (p<0.05) compared controls. Conclusions: ten times irrespective BMI. observed which indicates may be reliable marker suggesting energy homeostasis imbalance these women.
